D-QiTs (Dx Quick Kaizen Tools) is an IoT Kaizen application designed to improve the efficiency of production processes in the manufacturing industry using IoT technology to collect real-time data from the production line and visualize it. This allows users to identify actual situation at the Genba (worksite) and generate ideas for problem-solving. Based on multiple experiences of process improvement in DENSO production lines, we understood that 3 key data significantly enhance the effectiveness of the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle:
- **Output Progress:** To enhance tracking and increase production efficiency on the production line, sensors in IoT devices are used to measure the quantity of production. This data is then sent to an IoT platform and database to create real-time graphs for users. Users can instantly detect and investigate abnormalities when there is a decrease in production.
- **Cycle Time:** Understanding the time required for each process is crucial for improving efficiency. Sensors are used to measure the time taken for each process, and this data is sent to an IoT platform and database. Users can view real-time information of the time spent on each process, identify processes that take too long, and quickly pinpoint the source of the problem.
- **VDO (Video Events of Abnormal Cycle Time):** When a problem is identified based on abnormal cycle times, users can check actual events through videos within the application. This serves as an efficient communication tool for addressing irregularities between management and Genba employees.
D-QiTs operates on Data Share which is a middleware for seamless and stable connection between the device, database and IoT application platform. Moreover, it enable an easy and simple function add-ons in the future.
D-QiTs allows users to summarize the main production issues and prioritize them, helping users understand which problems should be addressed first. The videos –mbed in the application serve as a communication tool that bridges the gap between Genba employees and management, facilitating effective problem-solving like never before.
